Toyota and ROOKIE Racing Co. to Compete in IDEMITSU 1500 SUPER ENDURANCE 2022 with Hydrogen and Carbon-Neutral Fuel Vehicles

ROOKIE Racing Co., Ltd. and Toyota Motor Corporation have announced their competition in the IDEMITSU 1500 SUPER ENDURANCE 2022 at the Chang International Circuit in Thailand from December 17 to 18, 2022. They will race with the ORC ROOKIE GR Corolla H2 concept, a hydrogen engine vehicle, and the ORC ROOKIE GR86 CNF Concept, a carbon-neutral fuel vehicle. The participation will not be for the entire 25-hours but will be for the first and last few hours of the race. Additionally, one of Toyota Gazoo Racing Team Thailand’s vehicles is also going to run on carbon neutral fuels. The teams are striving to increase and accelerate development of carbon neutral technologies in Asia through motorsports, as well as expanding clean energy options such as through the use of internal combustion engines by participating in Super Taikyu series in Japan from 2021 season onwards. Toyota is committed to global carbon neutrality by 2050 while delivering Mobility for All; they are fully aligned with these efforts by demonstrating potential of hydrogen as a viable option for achieving carbon neutrality under grueling rally conditions.

The Future of Mobility for All

As the world moves towards carbon neutrality, hydrogen engine technology is becoming increasingly important. Hydrogen engines are a clean, efficient, and cost-effective way to power vehicles. In fact, they have been found to be up to three times more efficient than traditional gasoline engines. Additionally, hydrogen engines produce zero emissions and can be used to power electric cars, buses, and trucks. This means that mobility for all is now possible without compromising on environmental sustainability. Furthermore, the cost of hydrogen fuel has dropped by over 50% in the last decade making it an even more attractive option for powering vehicles. With these advances in technology, we can look forward to a future where everyone has access to clean and affordable transportation.
