Hamburg Leads the Way: Phasing Out Petrol-Powered Taxis by 2025 to Reduce CO2 Emissions

Hamburg is set to become the first German state to phase out petrol-powered taxis by 2025, in order to reduce CO2 emissions and contribute to climate protection. Currently, 12% of Hamburg’s taxis are electric or hydrogen-powered and this transition is expected to save 25,000 tons of CO2 per year. The project „Zukunftstaxi“ was launched in 2021 to promote the switch to locally emission-free taxis, with over 350 cars currently on the road. This decision has been met with positive feedback from both business owners and passengers alike.

Reducing Carbon Emissions

Climate protection involves taking action to reduce the amount of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases released into the atmosphere. This can be done by improving energy efficiency, switching to renewable energy sources, and reducing deforestation. By doing this, we can help to prevent further climate change and protect our planet for generations to come.
