Hamburg to Ban Combustion Engine Taxis by 2025, Introducing Hydrogen-Powered Mirai Taxis

Hamburg has announced a new climate protection law that will ban combustion engine taxis from its streets by 2025. 25 hydrogen-powered Toyota Mirai taxis have already been granted permission to operate in the city. The cars are capable of driving 500 kilometers on a single tank and can be refueled in less than five minutes, making them more convenient than electric vehicles that need to be recharged. The law will also apply to shared ride services such as Moia and Holon, as well as Uber and shuttle services.

Climate Protection Strategies

Climate protection is a global effort to reduce the amount of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. One of the most effective strategies for reducing emissions is energy efficiency, which involves using less energy to do the same task. This can be accomplished through better insulation, more efficient appliances, and switching to renewable sources of energy such as solar and wind. Other strategies include reforestation, restoring wetlands, and reducing food waste. These efforts help improve air quality and reduce our dependence on fossil fuels.
