Hamburg Leads the Way in Climate Protection with Electric and Hydrogen Taxis

Hamburg has announced that it will no longer allow taxis with combustion engines from 2025. This is part of the city’s climate protection law. Currently, 12 percent of Hamburg’s taxis already run on electricity or hydrogen, which is the highest percentage in Germany. The transition to electric and hydrogen powered taxis has already saved 2000 tons of CO2. If the entire fleet in Hamburg is electrified, 25,000 tons of CO2 can be saved each year. The project „Future Taxi“ was launched in 2021 to promote the switch to locally emission-free taxis. Companies such as Best Taxi GmbH, Hansa Taxi and FREE NOW Germany & Austria are all eager to make the switch to electric vehicles and have expressed their support for this decision by Hamburg.

Everyday Actions for Climate Protection

Climate protection is a global concern and we all have the power to make a difference. Simple everyday actions can help reduce our carbon footprint and protect the environment. These include using energy-efficient appliances, taking public transportation, reducing food waste, avoiding single-use plastics, conserving water, and recycling. We can also support organizations that are dedicated to protecting the environment through donations or volunteering. Every action taken towards climate protection helps us move closer towards a more sustainable future.
