Nikola and Plug Power Partner to Increase Use of Green Hydrogen for Transportation

Nikola and Plug Power have formed a partnership to increase the use of green hydrogen for transportation. Under the agreement, Plug will buy Nikola’s fuel cell trucks and supply them with up to 125 tons of green hydrogen per day. They are also selling equipment to convert 30 tons of hydrogen gas into a liquified form. The companies expect to benefit from incentives for hydrogen created by President Joe Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act. Hydrogen is seen as a more practical option for long-haul heavy trucks than batteries due to its lighter weight and faster refueling time.

The Growing Popularity of Green Hydrogen

Green hydrogen is becoming increasingly popular as a clean energy source. It is produced through the electrolysis of water, using renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, and geothermal. Once produced, green hydrogen can be used in many ways, such as powering transportation and heating buildings. Additionally, green hydrogen can be stored and transported easily and efficiently. As the cost of producing green hydrogen continues to decline, more countries are investing in its production and use. This is helping to reduce global emissions while providing a reliable source of clean energy for the future.
