Hamburg Leads the Way in Climate Protection: Phasing Out Combustion Engine Taxis by 2025

Hamburg is set to become the first German state to phase out combustion engine taxis by 2025. This move is expected to save 25,000 tons of CO2 annually and has been welcomed by taxi industry representatives. The transition to electric and hydrogen-powered taxis is already underway, with 12% of Hamburg’s taxis currently running on clean energy sources. Verkehrssenator Anjes Tjarks hopes that this decision will have a signal effect for Germany and Europe as a whole in terms of climate protection.
